'New' Year 9 students listening attentively to Mr Lucas, the principal, as part of their introduction to Tawa College in the hall early Wednesday afternoon, 7th February. Of the 1395 students enrolled at the school at the start of 2007, 303 are Year 9 students.

Those in the photo below who are wearing red (or other 'mufti') colours are Year 13 students assigned to assist with Year 9 classes, generally three Year 13 students per class.

And for the record, the first day back was the hottest of the summer to date, 27-28 degrees in Tawa.
