International Students

Tawa College welcomes enrolments from overseas students. Currently we have students from China, Japan, Vietnam, Germany, Denmark, Norway and India. In order to encourage students to mix with other students the number of international students is currently limited to 25.

Tawa College is a signatory to the Code of Practice for International Students. The full code can be accessed from the Ministry of Education www.minedu.govt.nz

Fees:

The current yearly tuition fee is $NZ11,250, and $NZ10,250 if already at the college. These fees are reduced to $10,250 and $9750 respectively where there is more than one student per family.

The fee includes the cost of uniforms, stationery, examinations, sports and school photos. The fee does not cover the cost of school trips.

Homestay fees are $230 per week. Where homestay arrangements are required please contact the Dean of International Students, Mrs Cecily Harvey, email: charvey@tawacollege.school.nz

Medical and Travel Insurance are available through the College's insurance company at a cost of $500 per annum.

Enrolment:

An Application for Enrolment Form must be completed and forwarded by fax (+64 4 232 5777) to the College Executive Officer, Mr Noel Foote, or email: nfoote@tawacollege.school.nz. If the International student intends to live with a relative or close friend of the student's family, a Statement of Designated Caregiver Form (see foot of page) must also be completed and forwarded to the Executive Officer.

In order to process a Student Study Visa, New Zealand Immigration Service will want to see evidence of enrolment and receipt of payment for the tuition fee. The College will provide a letter of confirmation once these two requirements are met.

Further information can be obtained from Mrs Harvey or Mr Foote or the Principal, Mr Murray Lucas,
email: mlucas@tawacollege.school.nz

Refund of Fees:

International students who wish to withdraw from Tawa College must:
. .
1.   Provide written approval from their agent in lieu of parents signing the leaving form.
2.   Complete the school's leaving form.
3.   Give homestay parents two weeks' notice if this involves terminating their homestay arrangements.
4.   The Immigration Authorities will be informed of any change of status of the student in relation to Tawa College.

The refund policy for fees of overseas students is based on Section 4B(7) of the Education Act 1989. The Principal will act as the agent of the Board of Trustees in establishing the circumstances and the level of the fees to be refunded within the spirit of this policy.
