  • 10 June 2009: This year's NZIC Victoria University Chemistry Quiz was a great success with the winning team, of 47 participating teams, being the Oresmen from Tawa College. Congratulations! Well done also to Tawa College's Team Sublime in 13th place.

  • Mid-February 2009: Mr Lucas, the principal, with Patrick Barnes who was presented with the medal he won in the 2008 Year 11 Australasian Computing competition. Click on photo (by EventPix).

  • Mid-June 2007: Congratulations to Ben Lawn who was placed first in New Zealand in the National Bank Maths Competition at Year 9 level. This is a first for Tawa College.

  • 16 February 2007: 2006 Year 13 students who sat Scholarship exams at the end of last year gained a total of 14 Scholarships - four to Michael Miller, two each to Lisa Coulmann and Sam Russell. More details here.

  • Early November 2006: A Tawa team of Audie Saili, Oliver Coulmann, Marcus Scott and Nathanael Lucas finished second in the NIE Newspaper Current Affairs Quiz for Wellington secondary schools.

  • Mid-September 2006: Tawa College had two teams in the Debating Finals. Kerry Hadaway, Emily Sutton, Caroline Challands and Karina Larsen won the Junior Certificate Debating final against Wellington Girls' College on Monday evening, September 18th. Kerry was adjudged the best speaker. Daniel Kleinsman, Bethany Balmer, Cherie McMeekin and Nathanael Lucas contested the Junior Premier final.

    Amy Duxfield, Valerie Tan and Hannah Timms won the Wellington Secondary Schools' Classical Studies Competition.

  • Early September 2006: Renee Lyons was one of seven highly commended in the national Ben Gully Poetry competition.

  • Mid-March 2006: There was a Tawa College water polo game at Porirua Aquatic Centre as part of the World Vision 40 Hour Famine activities, the present team against ex-Tawa College water polo players. A great time was had by all, the current team winning the game and the ex team wanting a rematch to improve their standing. We had a good support audience who enjoyed spot prizes and raffles.

    Thanks to our sponsors Porirua Aquatic Centre, Gordon's Outdoors and Beach Hut from Dressmart, DC Fitness, Reading Cinemas and McDonald's Porirua. The famine funds are still being collected. Please get your books and funds returned.
