Roselea Visit
These pics were taken Sunday afternoon, October 9th, 2006 when two teams from Roselea Football Club in Sydney played against the 14th grade boys' team and girls' team from Tawa at the College's top field.
The girls' match took place first, with the Roselea team playing into a reasonably strong northerly wind, but going into the halftime-break up by 1 goal to nil. With the wind behind them the visitors managed to find the net a few more times in the second half, and came away with a 6-0 win. Despite the score, the Tawa girls played well against a Sydney side fresh from earlier matches against other North Island school teams, as part of their 'NZ Tour 2006'.
It was a different story in the boys' match, with a skilled Tawa side leading by 3-0 at halftime despite playing into the wind. For much of the second half the Roselea team played with 14 on the field against Tawa's 11, keeping the scoreline to a respectable level, 6-1 at the final whistle.
Both matches were played in a friendly spirit and enjoyed by a good number of both local and Aussie spectators, bearing in mind the Roselea contingent made up the best part of two busloads.
